Fitosana - Achiote (Bixa orellana) - Jar x 100 capsules : Achiote is a specie of tree plant of the tropical regions of America. It is attributed different therapeutic properties: astringent, antiseptic, emollient, antibacterial, antioxidant, expectorant, healing, febrifuge, stomachic and scours, and antigonorréico diuretic, laxative, anti-inflammatory, hypoglycemic.
The ground seed is used for measles, smallpox, stomach disease, kidney disease, dysentery, febrifuge, astringent and slightly purgative.
The pulp is used in burns and blisters.
The leaves act against throat discomfort, respiratory, kidney pains, skin and vaginal inflammation, fever, hypertension, vomiting blood, diarrhea, hemorrhoids, angina, abscesses, headache, kidney pains, skin infections, and conjunctivitis.
Mashed or boiled are eaten to control vomiting, as an antidote to poisoning by eating manioc containing hydrogen cyanide.
The infusion of the leaves is used by women for vaginal washes and is very effective in controlling inflammation produced by fungi and bacteria.
Its root decoction is recommended against malaria and asthma.
The fruits and seeds in infusion , control headache . It also has healing properties.
The dry extract or infusion of the leaves is widely used to control and cure prostatitis, ailment that often degenerates into prostate cancer.

And also used as a seasoning and coloring, also part of Yucatecan cuisine as "cochinita pibil" among other dishes as it was widely used by the Maya, not only in America and in the Canary Islands, but also in gastronomy Southeast Asia.
The indigenous peoples of Central and South America use it as body paint and facial for their religious rituals. The dye is code E 160.
